The sun was out yesterday, and since it might be one of the last sunny days we get this year, we decided to take advantage of it. We have been wanted to go to the beach at Discovery Park for a while. The beach is very scenic, but generally the only way to get there is a hike or walk with pretty significant elevation change. I read recently that a baby will get you a parking pass for a very small beach parking lot. We had to hang out for a bit to get a pass, but we got to drive right down to the beach. We were disappointed to discover that many people park in the small lot illegally. They have one pass per spot, so if you have a pass, you should have a spot. After getting someone sitting in their car to move, we were able to head to the beach.
It may have been sunny, but it wasn't all that warm. We knew that wouldn't stop our water baby from needed to play in the water though. He was so excited, but then so surprised when the tide started to come in and the water moved up on him. He kept playing in the water and then running back to hide behind our legs. After he got cold, we walked around a bit, before letting him back on the water on the other side of the beach. The benefit to this side is that there is basically no tide and way fewer rocks and seaweed. The downside is that there is a pretty steep little hill into the water. This caused the Bean to get his face wet. He didn't care. He was so mad when we decided he was cold enough and it was time to head back to the car. Since I knew he'd half to be in the water, I brought a change of clothes. After much wrangling in the back of my car, he was clean, dry, and dressed. He will be enjoying some upcoming trips we are planning with warm weather and warm beach water!
