Happy Easter!!

Hi!! It's me the bean. Mom says today is Easter and I will have fun eating candy and finding hidden eggs when I get older. The Easter bunny brought me cool books with special paper that I can eat!! I usually don't get to eat books. I've only played with one of my books so far, but I liked it. I got pancakes to eat today too. Way yummy!! I get ti be naked when I eat too. Something about not getting my clothes all dirty. Mom says I'm a mess and need a bath now, so I have to go!

Picture of the teeth

The bean was thrilled in the bathtub yesterday and was all smiles. This enabled me to get a decent picture of his teeth without him trying to eat the camera!

New carseat time

When we bought an infant carseat when I was pregnant, we figured we'd be able to use it till about age one, when most babies outgrow it. It's so nice to be able to take it out of the car when he's sleeping! With a base in both our cars, it's easy to move back and forth too. Since the bean is so very tall, sadly it's time to retire our infant car seat.

The law says that kids have to stay rear facing until they are at least a year, but two years is preferable. Since most carseats have a height limit in the high 30 inches for rear facing,I had to do a lot of research to find a seat that would last rear facing longer. I am quite happy with our find. It will rear face until 44 inches and turns into a booster, so hopefully we never need another carseat for him.

Both seats came yesterday and the bean helped while I figured out how to use it and where all the straps should be. He even took it upon himself to inspect the instruction manual and the registration card. What a good helper!!

Sometimes the box is more fun

We love ordering some things online instead if going to the store, so it seems like there are always boxes coming to our house. We finally got something that came in a small box, so the bean was quick to make it his. Such a fun treasure!! He enjoyed it even more because instead of giving it to him, I set it on the table by his exersaucer and let him steal it. He was quite proud of his find.

Ducks!!

Yesterday we met a friend of mine for a walk in the arboretum. We got there a little early, so we sat by the water and watched the ducks. They are apparently used to people feeding them, because as soon as we sat down they waddled our way. The bean was busy playing with a water bottle (one of his new favorite treasures), so it took him a minute to notice them, but once he did, he was fixated in them. He just loves animals. I can't wait to take him to the zoo!

A year ago today

A year ago today we had our second ultrasound and got to see the bean. We should have known then he was going to do his own thing. He was completely uninterested in getting in a good position for the ultrasound tech to get the pictures she needed. I had to keep getting up and walking to try to get him to move. His flexibility is evident even at 18 weeks gestation with his feet in his face. That is one of my favorite ultrasound pictures by far!!

Inventive Play

The bean loves playing in his exersaucer. He gets to stand and he can yell louder than when he is laying down. He likes the toys on it too. After a while he gets tired though and needs a change of scenery. For some reason today, after I took him out and put him on his playmat, the exersaucer became the focus of his attention. He entertained himself for quite a while, grabbing at the base and spinning it. Hey, whatever works for him is good with me!

Messy Eater

I worked yesterday morning and Jeff had a lovely breakfast ready when I got home. Of course since Jeff and I were eating, the bean had to have some food too. He loves toast! We had an end piece, which was nice cause the crust keeps him busy longer. By the time he was done eating, he and the bumbo needed a bath. Oh well, any excuse to out him in the water works for me! I am not really sure how much of his food makes it in his mouth versus his clothes, but he has a good time and that's what's important.

Mischief

A friend of mine posted a video a few years ago of a completely destroyed playroom, done by her son while she was gone for a few minutes to pee. In a few years, that will be me!!

The bean isn't cool with me being out of his line of sight for long, so he goes where I go. Our master bath is large, so he has lots of space to play while I shower. He's been scooting off his playmat while I shower lately, but today he brought it down onto himself. He was quite pleased with himself and just kept playing with it collapsed. At least he goes with the flow!

Belated St Patricks Day

I was so busy posting Vegas stuff, I forgot to post this on Sunday. In honor of St Patricks Day, the bean was sporting a green diaper. The joys of cloth! Your diaper can match your clothes or an occasion!

Special Place

As I think all of you know, Jeff and I got married at the Bellagio. One of my favorite wedding photos was taken in the back of the conservatory. I love to check out the conservatory when we visit, and I make Jeff kiss me at that spot. The things he goes through! This trip was no exception. After Jeff took a picture of a very nice couple, we got them to take a picture of the three of us. Getting the bean to look at the camera was a huge issue, as there was a fountain in the water behind us. Running water is right up there with the cat in terms of fascination for us. The women, bless her, did all kinds of dancing, jumping, noises, and making faces to get his attention. We managed to grab it for short spurts and finally got a picture!

And for those of you who aren't sure what I've meant when I mentioned wearing him, this is an example. The carrier he is in is called an ergo. It is so much easier than carrying him as his weight is better distributed and I have my hands available. As you can see, he loves it.

Welcome to Las Vegas

The iconic Vegas sign. Everyone has seen it either in person or on TV or movies! When we first starting visiting Vegas, there was no real parking around this thing. You just kinda pulled off to the side of the road. Now there is fencing and parking and its all fancy and a lot more crowded. On our last trip to Vegas, about a year ago, my belly and I posed with the sign. So of course this trip, we had to take the bean! The line to stand right under the sign and take pictures was painfully long, so we just popped over the side and grabbed a few pics. Between all the people and cars going by, it was hard to get the bean focused long enough on the camera, but we did manage to succeed!

6 Month Photos

Now that we are back, I was able to get the correct CD of Myles's six month photos. The most challenging part of getting these photos taken was getting him to look at the camera and not be focused on going after the bunny. I think they turned out really cute!
