Flying is not always fun
Tuesday we flew out to Pittsburgh to visit Jeff's family and our friends. On paper, our flights and connection times weren't bad, but it didn't turn out as planned. Our flight to Chicago left a little late, but they boarded almost on time so we had to sit for a while on the ground. Our flight from Chicago was delayed, but originally not by much. We boarded almost on time and then sat for well over an hour at the gate. We ended up sitting for so long that we hadn't left yet when we should have been landing in Pittsburgh. We finally took off and got to Pittsburgh and something entirely new to us happened. We were stuck 50 feet from the gate due to weather. There was a huge lightening storm in the area and the ramp agents weren't allowed outside. We sat and sat and sat. For over two hours! Luckily we had a bulkhead and no one was sitting in the middle seat. I ended up sitting on the floor to get the bean in a more comfortable position for him to sleep. Finally there was a few minute break in the weather and we made it off the plane. Unfortunately they couldn't unload the bags. We pack appropriately in our carry on to survive a night without out checked luggage, except for the carseat. So we sat in the airport for hours more. Our flight was supposed to land at 1130pm and finally at 430am we got our bags and could head to Jeff's parents. The Bean did so well. He slept for the whole ground delay, and was awake at the airport while we waited. He was so happy to get to lay down in the position he wanted to. We are hoping our trip back is better!!
